Since we all experience success and obstacles in our lives, these bible verses are very helpful to us. Bible verses about mountains can inspire us and help us increase our faith during these times.

We read about many people in the Bible who had an encounter with God on a mountain top. The mountains are so big that they give us a great picture of God’s great power. We need to have faith that moves mountains and we need to believe that God is always with us and we don’t need to be afraid.

Bible Verses About Mountains in the Old Testament

Exodus 19:17-20 – And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.  Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

Psalm 72:3 – The mountains will bring peace to the people, And the little hills, by righteousness.

Psalm 90:2 – Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Psalm 95:1-5 – Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God And the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. Psalm 104:5-9 – You who laid the foundations of the earth, So that it should not be moved forever, You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters stood above the mountains.  At Your rebuke, they fled; At the voice of Your thunder, they hastened away.  They went up over the mountains; They went down into the valleys, To the place which You founded for them. You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, That they may not return to cover the earth.

Psalm 121:1-2 – A Song of Ascents. I will lift up my eyes to the hills– From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Isaiah 2:2 – Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains And shall be exalted above the hills, And all nations shall flow to it.

Isaiah 52:7 – How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Isaiah 54:10 – For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Micah 1:4 – The mountains will melt under Him, And the valleys will split Like wax before the fire Like waters poured down a steep place.

Matthew 14:23-24 – And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

Matthew 17:20 – So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Matthew 21:21 – So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.

Mark 11:23 – For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Luke 6:12 – Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

1 Corinthians 13:2 – And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
