If you are new to the faith or are sitting on the fence about believing in the existence of God, you might have a few questions such as, Who is God? Where can I find God? Is He real? Can He show Himself to me?

The answers that you are looking for can easily be found, and I want to show you how.

How To Find God

God is our Creator (Colossians 1:16). He created this entire universe and everything and everyone inside of it in just six days (Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11). He is both omnipresent (Job 34:21) and omnipotent (Revelation 19:6), meaning that He is all around us, everywhere, and that He all-powerful and all-knowing.

Once we understand more of who God is, and just how wonderful, powerful, and ever-present He is, then we can discover how we can get to know Him better and even form a relationship with Him.

Aside From Being the Creator of This World, Who Else is God to Us?

Now that we have a better understanding of who God is and what the scriptures tell us, let’s take a look at where we can find God. Below you will find eight ways that will help you find God in your life.

Where to Find God

Where To Find God

1. Find God In The Bible

The Bible tells us in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. God is The Word, therefore, when we are reading the Bible we are reading all about who God is, His personality, His creation, His love for us, and His desires for us in our lives.

If you want to find God, then you need to start reading the Bible because it talks all about God. The Bible is written by man but inspired and authored by God Himself (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

2. Find God In Prayer

Another way to find God is to communicate with Him. The strongest and most popular way to communicate with God is in prayer. Prayer is the direct form of communication between us and God. He hears us, listens to us, and answers our prayers in His perfect timing.

As long as we have complete faith and trust in Him alone, our prayers will not fall on deaf ears. Find a quiet place that you can be at to pray to God. Cut out any distractions and use this time to solely focus on talking to God

3. Find God By Following His Commandments

When we become born-again, God writes His commandments on our hearts (Hebrews 10:16). Following God’s commandments not only strengthens our faith in Him but also leads us closer to Him.

To find God, we should be following His Word, abiding by His commandments, and doing His Will in our lives.

4. Find God In All Of His Creation

Take a look around you, what do you see? This world is absolutely incredible. There are so many beautiful, wonderful, amazing places that you can go to or see that truly reflect the beauty of God’s creation.

He created everything that you see; everything around us. This is another way for you to find God. Stop and admire His incredible creation.

5. Find God In An Active Christian Community/Church

If you can find a strong, Biblically sound Christian community/church, then you will be able to feel the true presence of God there.

When you step foot in a sound-minded Church, you will be able to feel the Holy Spirit present. And, as I mentioned before, God is the comforter (Holy Spirit), so you will be able to find and feel God.

6. Find God When Meditating On Scripture

When you are reading the Bible, take some time to stop and meditate on His Word. Have some quiet time to reflect upon what you have read, and fill your mind with the scripture. Here you are filling your soul, body, and mind with the Word of God, with God Himself.

If you can, start memorizing scripture because this is going to help you focus solely on God, and what He has to say, versus what others in this world have to say. As Christians, we are to follow the Word, not the world. We are to focus on God above and not the things of this world.

7. Find God In Worship Music

Song and dance have been a big part of a Christian’s form of worship and there are examples of this in the Bible (especially the Old Testament!).

Music is such a fantastic way to spend time with God, get closer to Him, and worship Him in all His glory. There are so many wonderful artists out there today who create such Holy Spirit-led music that truly hits the soul.

Have you ever seen people worshipping God in a Church with spirit-led music and just seen them breaking down crying? It’s because of the love they feel from God and His true presence with them.

Words are so powerful, and when you start to make God-led music, it just becomes so much more than the worldly music that you will listen to.

Take some time to look into some different worship music, especially the older style Church songs. Have a listen to the lyrics, and get a sense of how you feel. It is through music that you will be able to find God and feel His loving presence.

Here are some fantastic scriptures that mention men and women singing and dancing and praising God: 1 Samuel 18:6; 1 Chronicles 13:8; 2 Chronicles 30:21; Ezra 2:65; Nehemiah 7:67; Colossians 3:16.

8. Find God By Reading the Book of Psalms

Did you know that the Psalms that King David wrote are actually songs? Check out the Book of Psalms and have a read of what he wrote. They are so incredible! King David was a man of God, who walked with Him and did all that was right in God’s eyes.

The Psalms that he wrote are powerful testimonies of his faith and all that he went through in his life, with God by his side (Psalm 100:2; 149:3).
