The blood of Jesus is powerful and precious. It has provided everything you need to live a life of victory and redemption. Along with fellowship, healing, protection, and authority over the devil.

As Christians, we have heard many hymns in the church that we sing along to. But do we know just how deep the blood of Jesus Christ runs?

We as believers are covered by the blood of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit lives within us. Sometimes it’s easy to feel like our cups have run dry and our energy has been drained because we forget that we have 24/7 access to our God because of the blood that was shed on that cross.

When we take advantage of the access we have to God and His Word, we can become full of His presence. The blood of Jesus also gives us peace that we will not find anywhere else or through anything else.

What is the Blood of Jesus?

The blood of Christ is the greatest expression of His love for us. Every time we apply Jesus’ blood we can truly experience the outpouring of his love. His love covers every need we have or will ever have.

The most powerful and unbreakable barrier between you and the works of the devil is through the blood of Christ. His blood represents love, life, and is a compelling artistic symbol of His carnation and ultimate sacrifice.

It is so significant that it creates a union with our Holy God for us sinners. Which redeems us from the curse of the law to enjoy the full blessings of His grace.

God is love and because of His love, he wanted to redeem mankind back to Himself to give us access to His presence again. He wanted us to receive forgiveness of our sins so we can enter into His presence and this is all possible because of the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 10:19-22).

Any other type of blood would simply not be powerful enough to bring redemption. It was only Jesus’ blood that contained the necessary healing and purification properties that we needed.

God’s own heavenly bloodline is where this restoration could be made. This truly shows us just how much love and compassion He has toward us.

What Does the Bible Say about Jesus’ Blood?

Romans 5:8 ESV says

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Nothing but the blood of Jesus can solve our greatest problem, it’s the only solution to cleanse our sins.

The word “blood” is mentioned 447 times in the King James Version in 375 different Bible verses. According to the Bible, Jesus’ blood:

  • Justifies and spares us from God’s wrath (Romans 5:9).
  • Forgives us, reclaims us from the enemy, and gives us the unmerited favor of God (Ephesians 1:7)
  • Gives us the power to overcome the enemy and proclaim total victory (Revelation 12:11),
  • Sets us free from bondage (Galatians 5:1)
  • Declares us righteous through faith alone (Galatians 2:20).

Isaiah 1:18 NKJV says,

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

The blood of Jesus is perfect that is what made it possible to purify us whiter than snow. We can begin each day with the joy of being cleansed and forgiven because of the shedding of His blood.

When you apply the blood to your life it provides forgiveness for your sins, gives you life, brings you close to God, heals you, and gives you the boldness to approach God. Without His blood, our lives would be filled with filth like the Pharisees in Matthew 23:27.

Ultimately the blood of Jesus removes all the dirt and grime of sin from our daily lives. This is why it is so important for us to apply it daily to our lives. We are humans, who aren’t perfect, and we are sinners, and this is why we need our perfect Savior.

It’s amazing that God still loves us the same no matter how deep we are in sin. He sent His one and only son to die on the cross for us. Knowing all our sins and how imperfect we are with His son paying the ultimate sacrifice for us.

There is absolutely nothing that the blood of Jesus isn’t sufficient to overcome not even the works of the devil. Without it, we are defenseless against the devil and his works. Your healing, protection, and deliverance all come from the power in the blood of Jesus.

Blood of Jesus

Reasons Why the Blood of Jesus is so Powerful

Romans 3:5 NKJV says,

“But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)”

Being covered by the blood of Jesus means that your debt of sin has been paid and you’re forgiven. This was all made possible by Jesus’ blood on the cross. Here are the reasons His blood is so powerful.

1. It Gives Us Redemption – Ephesians 1:7

The moment you receive Jesus as Lord of your life, God will not remember any past sin in your life. All your sins are washed completely away making you clean and pure – white as snow. That is just how powerful the blood of Jesus is.

2. It Gives Us Fellowship with God – Hebrews 10:19

It’s a lot deeper than just having a Bible study with coffee in your quiet time. This means we have a closeness with God, a friendship, with him. You can come boldly into the presence of God.

3. It Gives Us Healing – Isaiah 53:5

By His stripes and the blood that He shed we are healed. Do not just do it halfway. You need to accept everything Jesus sacrificed and provided to apply the blood of Jesus in its fullness.

4. It Gives Us Protection – Exodus 12:13

The blood of the lamb is a never-ending and unlimited supply. We can access the full power to defeat the works of the devil when we apply the blood of Jesus in our lives.

5. It Gives Us Authority Over the Devil – Revelation 12:11

Jesus’ blood gives us authority and power over the devil and his works. We need to declare that over our lives daily as it’s our defense and have faith that it will be an almighty shield.

We are Covered by the Blood of Jesus

Romans 10:10 NKJV says,

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

The remarkable part about applying the blood is that you can apply it to anything you have authority over or influence upon. Satan cannot touch whatever you apply the blood of Jesus to.

There are many books of the Bible that talk about the power and indescribable glory of God. With any kind of Bible study in the book of Hebrews, you will notice one of the central themes. That the work of Jesus at Calvary has brought you and me into a covenant with more promises.

Jesus’ blood cancels out our sin debt and gives us a new identity in Christ. The precious blood that was purchased for us secures us a home in heaven. Also consider how this blood has brought you into God’s very presence and ultimately, His holy presence in you.

We often skim over passages that we cannot easily make sense of or maybe it’s those verses that you heard every week in Sunday school. This is why it’s so important for us to dig into the Word of God daily and ask for the Holy Spirit to help us better understand His Word.

By memorizing scripture and reading the Bible daily we can understand just how glorious and powerful His blood really is just as scripture describes.

The power of Jesus’ blood is not just available for a season. The reality is, it’s not temporary, it’s permanent, forever. The moment you truly believe, you receive the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit then lives inside of you to guide you forever.

John 14:16 NKJV tells us:

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—”
