The Christian walk is not an easy one. We need to stand firm in the faith so we can walk a straight path.

If you are struggling with knowing how to stand firm in the faith during your journey as a Christian, rest assured that you are not alone.

What Does The Bible Say About Standing Firm?

Let’s be honest, being a Christian isn’t easy. There are things being thrown at us from all different angles. Whether it be from the media, people who know, or from the internet.

No one ever said that being a Christian would be easy, however, the reward, in the end, is worth it all. In the Bible, there are several scriptures that relate to standing firm in your faith. One that comes to mind is:

“If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” Isaiah 7:9b

Let’s think about that for a moment. If we do not stand firm in what we believe in, then why do we believe in it at all?

There is a saying that says if you don’t believe in something, you’ll fall for anything. If we don’t hold true and try to live the way we are taught as Christians to do, it will be very easy to get caught up in things that go totally against our beliefs and very easy to backslide.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of “Stand Firm” is to refuse to change a decision or position. And that is what we as Christians must do.

We need to stand firm in our decision to become Christians as well as stand firm in our position and beliefs as Christians.

Stand Firm in the Bible

How Do You Stand Firm in the Faith?

Standing on the Word of God, in a time where it seems everything in our world is crashing down around us is one of the most trying times as a Christian.

We have to be leery of those who hide behind Christianity in trying to push their beliefs on us. One of the beautiful things about being a Christian is that everything we need to know has already been laid out for us in the Bible.

Our Lord talks to us about the trials and tribulations we will go through. However, through this incredible journey, we are on, the one thing that stands solid is His love for us.  It never fades or falters.

We need to know what our Bible says if we want to stand firm in the faith. Study God’s Word and apply it to your life. The Holy Spirit will guide you and convict you in standing firm.

Stand Firm Now

“Stand firm in the Lord. Stand firm and let Him fight your battle. Do not try to fight alone”. Francine Rivers

Don’t get discouraged when you falter as a Christian. After all, we are only human. Pull yourself back up, dust yourself off, and get back on track. Also, use this time to remember what Jesus went through himself.

He was persecuted by his own disciples. He was arrested and tried for blasphemy. At any time, he could have wavered, but he didn’t. He stood firm with his Father, Our Lord, and died on the cross for our sins.

“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake”. Matthew 5:11

Remember that our reward as Christians is in eternity and these struggles on earth will be worth it in the end.

Stand Firm Bible Verses

Here are some of my favorite scriptures about standing firm. Memorizing these Bible verses can help you stay focused on standing firm in your faith. The Bible verses below are from ESV.

“And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:13-14

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13

“Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith.” 2 Corinthians 1:24

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,” Ephesians 6:13-14

“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,” Philippians 1:27

“Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.” Philippians 4:1

“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
